FAQ’s

All you need to know.

    1. Submit the registration form. (see form button on website).

    2. Drop off your work between September 28th - Oct 1st or Oct 5th - 8th at Sparrow Studio: Level 1, 208 Whitehorse Rd, Balwyn.

      At this time, the curation team will review your work, guide you in pricing and ensure your work is ready to hang/present.

    3. Anyone who is interested in doing a performance piece for opening night, fill out the application form and a Sparrow staff will contact you to talk more.

    Got a different idea? thats cool, we want to hear about it.

    • Must be presented professionally. For Visual / Digital art / Photography, this may be framed, or on cork / foam board, or a printed canvas.

    • No larger than 1 meter by 1 meter. Some exceptions to size can be made, please contact us if you have a special request.

    • Sculptors and Potters must think about how they will safely mount their works on the plinth.

  • Three.

  • Up to three pieces per artist.

  • It’s what you made your work with. For example, water colour paint, black and white film, stoneware ceramic or guitar in the studio. Speak with your instructor or Support Worker if you are unsure.

APPLICATIONS

  • Choosing to perform at the Opening Night is an opportunity for you to showcase your ability to the wider community. We don’t have the capacity to offer payment for this.

  • No. You can choose to put a 'not-for-sale' sign and just display your skills.

  • The curation team will guide you in pricing your work, so that there is consistency throughout the show in the price ranges.

  • A red dot will be placed beside your work if you sell it. When the exhibition ends, we will process the payment of the buyers and deduct 10% (just to help cover showcase costs). The remaining amount will be paid into your account within approximately 14 working days.

  • Pick up from Sparrow Studio: Level 1, 208 Whitehorse Rd, Balwyn, between Tuesday 17th - Thursday 19th of November between 9am - 5pm.

SELLING YOUR WORK

  • No, It’s absolutely free!

  • This year it will be held at:

    Doncaster & Templestowe Artist’s Society - 673 Doncaster Rd, Doncaster

  • Opening event - Ticketed (free)
    16th October. 6-8:30pm

    The show will remain open until Thursday, 6th November 2025.

  • Monday - Friday -10-4pm

    If we can get people to volunteer, we will open:
    Saturday & Sunday 12-4pm.
    An email will be sent confirming this (to subscribe to our email newsletter, just sign up at the bottom of the page).

  • Yes, a wheelchair ramp.

  • Yes, you can invite as many of them as you like to view the showcase during the opening hours.

  • It’s free!
    But you will still need to order a ticket online, once ticketing has opened.
